Metabolomic and Transcriptomic Analyses Reveal New Insights into the Role of Metabolites and Genes in Modulating Flower Colour of Clematis tientaiensis

Clematis tientaiensis is an ornamental plant with beautiful flowers that belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. C. endemic Zhejiang Province in China. Five different colours of flower have been observed, and explore reason for this colour variation, transcriptome metabolome sequencing analyses were conducted study. The results indicate 32 metabolites participate anthocyanin biosynthesis, 24 differentially accumulated among five colours. enabled identification 13,559 expressed genes. Further analysis indicated cyanidin-3-O-galactosidea cyanidin-3-O-sophoroside promote accumulation tientaiensis, whereas pelargonidin-3-O-galactoside plays a negative role synthesis. In addition, combined showed WDR2 gene important regulatory biosynthesis. study provide basis further research into biosynthesis regulation anthocyanins flowers.
